The Silver Marches

Luruar, otherwise known as the Silver Marches, is a confederation of cities in the north of Faerun, under the leadership of Alustriel Silverhand, ruler of Silverymoon. It consists of Silverymoon, Citadel Adbar, Deadsnows, Jalanthar, Quaervar, Citadel Felbar, Everlund, Mithril Hall, Sundabar, the svirfneblin (deep gnome) town of Blingdenstone, and Abhain an Tsolais. The nation is also a member of the Lord’s Alliance (a partnership of merchant cities from the north, the western heartlands, and the sword coast).

The Silver Marches are bordered by the Anauroch Desert on the east, the High Forest to the South, The Savage Frontier to the west, and the Spine of the World Mountains to the north. It also shares a border with the orc kingdom of Many-Arrows, which has maintained a truce with the other nations since the signing of the Treaty of Garumn’s Gorge ten years ago, and with whom the town of Abhain an Tsolais has enjoyed a provisional alliance.

In the ten years since the signing of the treaty the Silver Marches have known an unprecedented peace, allowing trade to boom to the increased prosperity of all. During this time the town of Abhain an Tsolais has grown in prominence as the primary point of trade with the growing nation of Many-Arrows, which has used this time to establish itself as a proper kingdom under the leadership of King Obould. The orcs of Many-Arrows have built a capital city around Dark Arrow Keep, opened mining operations, established farming communities, begun establishing a new tradition of craftsman, and opened lines of trade with the outside world.

Relations between the allied peoples of the Silver Marches, and the newly rebuilt Nesme to the south have been somewhat cool, but peaceful. The Uthgardt barbarian tribes to the west remain untamed and primal, having no part of the alliance, but not interfering with it either. They do however refuse to recognize Many-Arrows as a sovereign nation, and continue to kill orcs on sight. Further west lies Mirabar, which has an increasingly strained relationship with Mithril Hall due to trade disagreements (and the defection of a large portion of their dwarven population during the war with the orcs), but is otherwise cooperative with the rest of the alliance.
