A Light in the Dark
Faerun (A World in Turmoil)
The year is 1382 DR, and the continent of Faerun has come to know peace for the first time since the TIme of Troubles began twenty-four years ago. Many fear that this peace is merely a calm before the coming of a greater storm, that the Era of Upheaval has not yet ended, and the eyes of an entire continent turn to the most unlikely of places for comfort. In the Savage North a bastion of peace and cooperation shines brightly for all to see. The Silver Marches, once a brutish frontier, has become something more. An alliance of cities, nations, and peoples, an unprecedented truce with an orc nation signed just ten years ago, and burgeoning trade have brought the eyes of great nations and mighty rulers to this once insignificant corner of the North.
So it is that when chaos, war, and worse comes to the Silver Marches all of Faerun trembles, fearing that it is only the beginning. Great kings, lords, and heroes alike know fear, fear that the shadow growing over the Silver Marches may consume all. In this time of fear there is a solitary light shining forth from the heart of the Silver Marches, a once insignificant town founded on the principles of acceptance and freedom, ruled not by some great king, mighty warrior, or powerful mage, but by a council of equals. The town of Abhain an Tsolais, a place known only for its unusual population, and strategic location for trade now has the hopes of a world pinned upon it. As the darkness grows only this one small flame dares to flicker on, protected by an inexperienced band of adventurers.
